Metamorphosis [OOTD]

by - February 09, 2016

For the longest time, I pondered whether I should upload these images here or not - my childhood and adolescence, like those of many others, were filled with magic, thanks in no small part to Harry Potter. To compress all of those experiences, lessons learned, and emotions into a single outfit; to transfer more than ten years of my life to a few items of clothing, regardless of how much one's style is a reflection of oneself, seems naïve, superficial, and pretty much impossible. And then, with the passing of so many representatives of the magical worlds of J. K. Rowling, of music, or entirely of their own, I was certain that these pictures would remain forever within a tiny little image folder called 'Tonks' in a slightly less tiny image folder called 'December 2015'.

What changed my mind? I'm not sure. Maybe it was the presents that my mum brought me from Platform 9 3/4 (yes, the one in King's Cross), including the wand of the brightest witch of our time; maybe it was how much fun me and my amazing waifu had whilst shooting; maybe it is simply the fact that I have talked many times about how much of an inspiration the Harry Potter books and films are for various aspects of my life, and showing the more insignificant ones does not undermine the rest.

As for this look, it was inspired by Nympha- pardon, Tonks, as well as by my new and somewhat accidental hair colour, which I ended up loving. Of course, I forgot to take a close-up of my choker, but it is essentially a double-layered tattoo choker with a star-shaped opalite pendant (often mistakenly called a moonstone). For those who I have not yet managed to convert to choker-lovers, I propose replacing it with a Time-Turner - one of the most easily recognisable symbols from the series, second only to that of the Deathly Hallows.

  1. Ah this photoshoot is so creative! I love that time-turner choker - I saw the necklace being sold in Harry Potter studios but it was so pricey, so I'm debating whether or not to buy a knock-off haha.

    1. Thank you! And yeah, I saw the shop online and the price is... a bit scary. I wouldn't give 50+ quid for it (and that's the cheaper version!). I might be persuaded by something I find more aesthetically pleasing, though (read: the love potion pendant with a stand), haha.
